The magical outdoor Shakespeare festival returns with two of his most popular works: Macbeth and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Two plays that mix comedy and tragedy, love and betrayal, and two productions filled with wit, creativity and verve. And all under the summer starlight.
31st July – 4th August 2019, 8pm Wednesday-Saturday, 3pm Sunday matinee.
“Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under it.”
When the victorious Macbeth is presented with a prophecy, a path of ambition, jealousy, and duplicity is laid down before him. One of the nation’s favourite tragedies, Macbeth tests the bounds of love, loyalty, and lust for power in murderous fashion.
THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR
7th – 11th August 2019, 8pm Wednesday-Saturday, 3pm Sunday matinee.
“Wives may be merry, and yet honest too.”
An ill-advised attempt to seduce two married women leaves Falstaff in a heap of trouble. What follows is mischief, confusion, and ridiculous practical jokes. One of the most frenetic and saucy of Shakespeare’s comedies: the tale of Falstaff’s self-inflicted muddle is never one to miss.
Join us this August for 10 glorious evenings of outdoor Shakespeare. Bring friends and family, bring a picnic and let us present you with two coming of age stories which will continue to fascinate and bewitch their audiences in 2019 and beyond.
Why not treat yourself to the best seats in the house, and book our Premium Covered or Uncovered seats?
If daytime Shakespeare is more your scene, come along to one of our Sunday Matinees – the same shows on the same stage but with more sun! Plus, if you are feeling particularly keen, come along to one of our post-show Q&As on Thursdays, or our pre-show seminars on Sundays.
