Just outside Tring on the Buckinghamshire border, has a perfect village green right down to its stocks. The village also has attractive houses and pubs. There are also several good walks nearby, including Aldbury Common and Ivinghoe Beacon set on a spur of the Chilterns at the end of the long-distance Ridgeway Path, looks out over eight counties.
