On a warm summer's evening, fifty years ago, beneath the clipped yew hedge, in dappled light, a group of actors performed scenes from Shakespeare and started an annual event that is now very high up on the social calendar.
Our Annual Open Air Shakespeare Festival is held in the first fortnight of August in the grounds of the hotel and features one play each week.
